SAO Graduation Ceremonies

    Graduation Dates:

      Swinburne graduation ceremonies are held in March and August of each year. Graduations are organised by the Registrar's Department and all students need to apply to graduate. For details, please see the Awards & Ceremonies Section of the Registrar's Department website. (Note that international students can also graduate December. However, the late release of the Semester 2 final grades means that international students will generally no longer be able to graduate in December if they completed their studies in Semester 2.)

      SAO and the Centre for Astrophysics & Supercomputing are within the Faculty of Information & Communication Technologies, so be sure to check the ICT (postgraduate) graduation ceremony dates.

      The Centre for Astrophysics and Supercomputing is located on the 2nd and 3rd floors of the AR building on the Hawthorn campus of Swinburne. For a map, follow this link.

    Associated Activities:

      SAO staff invite you and your guests to visit the Centre for Astrophysics and Supercomputing on the day of your graduation. Closer to the date the SAO Coordinator will be in email contact with those students attending the ceremony to discuss a timetable of events.

    Accommodation:

      Should you be requiring local accommodation while in Melbourne, we suggest the following:
      • Glenferrie Hotel - very close to Swinburne (1 min walk!)
      • Amora Hotel Riverwalk - nice hotel in Richmond on the Yarra River, just a 15 minute tram ride from Swinburne.
      • Richmond Hill Hotel - cheaper option in Richmond. Great location close to train and trams, about 15 minutes from Swinburne.
