SAO Short Course

Are you interested in astronomy and want to learn more? Are you interested in our full postgraduate degree programs in Swinburne Astronomy Online (SAO) ... but don't have the time to commit to a whole semester course?

Or maybe you would like to get a feel for online education before committing yourself to a whole unit of SAO? Or maybe you would like to try a non-assessed astronomy course - without tests, essays and projects? Or do you need a little extra training in astronomy to prepare you for your teaching assignments?

Or perhaps you're just interested in doing a short course in astronomy?

If you're interested in taking a general interest astronomy course (with no physics or astronomy background needed) through the Internet, then the SAO short course is for you!

In 2012, we are offering a six week online course entitled From Planets to the Universe.

SAO offers the short course three times a year.

"The SAO Short Course had engaging online presentations, including one-click access to a comprehensive dictionary, which added depth to the learning experience. The staff was highly participative and the students were actively engaged in communicating and helping each other along the way. An overall excellent experience!" Carla Johns, CA, USA.

"If you want a gentle introduction to studying astronomy online, the SAO Short Course is ideal. ... To get the most from the course, you need to be self motivated and involved; ask questions, do research, enjoy the comaraderie ... You may be left with more questions, but for me, that was the beauty of the course - it made me want to know more." Maria Fletcher, Australia.
