Dr. Gregory Poole
As a member of the WiggleZ collaboration, I am studying the subtle but important effects introduced into baryon acoustic oscillation (BAO) measurements of cosmology by non-linear processes in structure formation, redshift-space distortions and galaxy biasing. Cosmological N-body simulations are an indispensable tool in this endeavor.
Continuing the work I performed for my PhD thesis, I am also involved in several studies of the structure and formation of galaxy clusters -- particularly as determined from X-ray observations. These studies include hydrodynamical simulations of cluster mergers and of jets produced in the active galactic nuclei (AGN) found in many of their centers.
