My PhD project involves a high resolution survey of the molecular gas near the dynamical centre of the Large Magellanic Cloud with the ATNF Mopra Telescope. I am also mapping the diffuse molecular gas in several Galactic regions where there appears to be a strong dynamical connection between the atomic and molecular gas phases. I am interested in how molecular cloud formation and evolution depends on properties of the interstellar medium - e.g. dust content, metallicity, internal cloud dynamics and the interstellar radiation field - and in the relationship between the molecular and atomic gas in galaxies. I work with Drs. Sarah Maddison (Swinburne), Tony Wong (ATNF/UNSW), Juergen Ott (ATNF) and Lister Staveley-Smith (ATNF).
