Thermal Radiation

If the characteristics of the emitted radiation depend on the temperature of the source, the radiation is known as ‘thermal radiation’.

In general, blackbody radiation emitted by stars and heated dust, and thermally excited spectral line emission are the two primary sources of thermal radiation in galaxies, though other non-thermal radiation sources can also contribute.
